Smash Balloon – Instagram Feed Pro changelog

Release notes for every version we have on record, newest first.

Latest 6.15.0 40 versions
6.15.0 Latest 2 fixed
Fixed
  • Plugin security hardening.
  • Review request notices no longer keep appearing, unstyled, on admin pages after they stop applying.
6.14.1 2 fixed
Fixed
  • Feed Analytics now records clicks on Reels opened in Swipe View.
  • The Support Tool's hashtag diagnostic has been updated ahead of an Instagram API change on October 27, 2026, so it keeps working after that date.
6.14.0 3 new3 fixed
New
  • Reels now open in a full-screen, swipeable viewer that plays with sound. Turn it on or off with the new "Enable Swipe View for Reels" setting under Settings > Advanced (on by default). Feeds with the lightbox turned off are not affected.
  • A Data sharing section under Settings > General explains the limited, anonymised usage data the plugin collects and the in-plugin notifications it sends, with links to learn more.
  • Manage Instagram Feed from AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Cursor through the WordPress Abilities API (WordPress 6.9 and newer). Set it up under Settings > General > AI Agents. Agents can read your feeds and settings; changing them needs the separate "MCP Write Access" option, which is off by default.
Fixed
  • Feeds on pages served from a long-lived page cache no longer show up empty, and Load More works again.
  • Dismissed in-plugin notifications no longer come back after a page reload.
  • Deactivation feedback is no longer lost when another Smash Balloon plugin is active.
6.13.1 2 fixed
Fixed
  • The Instagram feed block preview in the WordPress post, page, and site editors is styled again, instead of appearing as a stack of oversized icons.
  • Resolved a compatibility issue on WP Engine-hosted sites where the plugin could interfere with WP Engine's platform detection.
6.13.0 1 new2 improved5 fixed
New
  • A notice now warns you when a feed has been showing an older saved copy of its posts because Instagram could not be reached, escalating to a more urgent warning if the connection stays broken.
Improved
  • Confirmed compatibility with WordPress 7.1.
  • The weekly Feed Issue Email Report now also tells you when a feed has quietly been showing an older saved copy of its posts for days, not just when there is an outright connection error.
Fixed
  • Keyboard and focus improvements across the published feed, its lightbox, and the feed customizer — posts and carousel items are reachable by Tab and announced to screen readers, focus outlines are clearer and correctly placed, and focus no longer gets stuck in the customizer's color picker.
  • Rate limits and temporary throttling from Instagram no longer mark a working connection as invalid or ask you to reconnect — the feed keeps serving cached posts and retries automatically once the limit clears.
  • The customizer preview is clickable again — moderation, shoppable, and caption expansion work as expected, and clicking a shoppable tile no longer opens Instagram.com in a new tab.
  • Repeated failures to refresh a connected account's access token are now recorded properly, so a connection that keeps failing no longer appears up to date.
  • Plugin security hardening.
6.12.0 1 new2 fixed
New
  • Improved accessibility across the plugin admin to meet WCAG 2.1 AA — customizer controls, popups, settings tabs, and the feeds list are now fully keyboard accessible with clearer focus indicators.
Fixed

  • Plugin security hardening.
6.11.4 1 new3 fixed

  • The Elementor widget title is now translatable.
6.11.0 1 new1 improved2 fixed

Improved
  • Compatibility with WP 7.
Fixed
  • Cached Instagram images are now saved at the intended compression quality on WordPress 6.8 and above; previously the resize step reset quality back to WordPress defaults, which could make thumbnail files larger than the full-size file.
  • The "Thumbnail (150x150)" image resolution now serves the cached 150x150 file instead of falling back to the 320x320 version.
6.10.2 6 fixed
Fixed
  • Dragging a slide in a multi-image post no longer advances to the next post.
  • Reels now open the correct post link when a WPConsent-style cookie banner is active.
