Latest 2.16.0 40 versions
2.16.0 Latest 1 new10 fixed
New
  • Ask AI assistants about your Reviews Feed settings, feeds and connected sources through the WordPress Abilities API (WordPress 6.9 or later). Turn on the new "MCP Write Access" setting under Settings > General to also let them change settings, create feeds and attach sources. It is off by default, and deleting a feed still needs your confirmation in the admin. Now in all six Smash Balloon feed...
Fixed
  • Google Search Console no longer reports "Multiple reviews without aggregateRating object" for a feed that has no average rating: the page now adds one review to its rich snippet data, not several. When a feed has an average rating, Pro keeps it, with the reviews shown on the page.
  • A review that has no star rating is no longer sent to Google as a 1-star review in your page's rich snippet data.
  • A review that has no star rating now shows five grey stars and reads "Not rated" to screen readers, instead of looking like a 1-star review.
  • A collection's average rating no longer counts a review without stars as 0, so it isn't pulled down. The review still counts toward the number of reviews. Existing collections are corrected when you update.
  • A review sent through a WPForms or Formidable Forms form that has no rating field is no longer saved as a 5-star review. If you auto-approve submissions by star rating, these reviews now wait for you to approve them.
  • A Facebook review with no recommendation no longer shows as 5 stars in the collection editor, and saving it there no longer stores 5 stars.
  • A feed that combines several collections or products now averages only the reviews that have stars. Before, a source with many reviews without stars counted as if every one of them had its average rating. Existing collections are corrected when you update.
  • Your page's rich snippet data now lists only the reviews shown on the page, not the ones behind "Load more". The average rating still covers every review.
  • Duplicating a collection now copies its Facebook reviews, with their stars.
  • Plugin security hardening.
2.15.1 10 fixed
Fixed
  • A collection's rating is now its real average instead of being rounded up to a whole star, so a 4.6 collection no longer shows as 5 in the feed, Review Alerts or Trust Badges. Existing collections are corrected when you update.
  • Empty and half stars in a feed are shown in grey whatever star colour you choose, so a half star or a 3-star review no longer looks like a full rating with black or dark stars.
  • Review rich snippets now appear for feeds placed with SiteOrigin Page Builder, Beaver Builder or Bricks.
  • A page that only shows the shortcode as text, or holds another plugin's feed, no longer publishes a review rating for a feed that isn't there.
  • Reviews Feed's database tables are recreated automatically if they go missing, for example after a database cleanup tool runs.
  • Clearing a feed's cache no longer logs a PHP notice when debugging is on.
  • Review Alerts show the exact accent colour you type, including white and greys, and review counts use your site's thousands separator.
  • Deactivating a licence that is no longer active on this site now shows the Activate button and explains why.
  • A feed that can't fetch reviews for a source now tells you why in the feed editor, instead of only showing "No Posts Found".
  • Plugin security hardening.
2.15.0 1 new14 fixed
New
  • If your licence is for a different Reviews Feed Pro plan than the build installed, a notice on the Dashboard, the Plugins page and Reviews Feed Settings now says so and names both, instead of the two quietly disagreeing. All Access licences never show it.
Fixed
  • When you reach the source limit without an API key, Add Source now says so and takes you to the API key step.
  • Plugin security hardening. If you use a page cache, clear it after updating.
  • The block editor now gets only each feed's ID and name, so source details no longer reach anyone who can edit posts.
  • Adding a TripAdvisor source accepts listings with a short location id, and a link that can't work (a city or list page, a member profile, plain text) now tells you what to paste instead.
  • Duplicating a collection keeps the review images. Before, the copy was created without them and there was no error to say so.
  • Importing reviews into a collection keeps their images, and stores them on your own site when that setting is on. Importing a whole collection from Settings keeps the images too, still loaded from where they were originally hosted.
  • Review images saved to a collection, whether added by hand, imported, duplicated or sent in through a form, now have to be http or https image links. Anything that isn't a web address is dropped, along with any extra data attached to the image, and brackets in a link are encoded so they can't affect the page.
  • Review images in a feed can no longer add styling of their own to the page. Every image link is cleaned just before it is printed, which also covers reviews saved by earlier versions and images from any review source.
  • The list of feeds shown as using a source or collection no longer treats a _ or % in its ID as a wildcard, so it can't list feeds that belong to a different source. The usage count next to it is worked out separately and is unchanged.
  • Facebook reviews added to a collection by hand keep the stars you set. Before, they were saved as 1 star, which lowered the collection's rating and the feed's overall rating. Reviews already saved are corrected when you update.
  • The "Optimize Images" setting is respected. With it off, review images aren't copied to your site and images load from where they're hosted.
  • Duplicating or importing a large collection no longer times out downloading every image at once; images are processed in the background as the feed is viewed, and Google, Yelp and TripAdvisor reviews in a collection keep their photos.
  • Review images whose link starts with // are kept instead of being dropped when a collection is saved, duplicated or imported.
  • When Trustpilot can't be reached, adding a Trustpilot source says so instead of calling the link invalid. This is a server-side change and needs no update.
2.14.0 2 new2 fixed
New
  • An About Us page under the Reviews Feed menu with plugin information and helpful links.
  • A Data sharing section at the end of the General settings tab shows how usage data and in-plugin notifications are handled for your Pro license.
Fixed
  • Saving settings without making any changes no longer shows an error message.
  • In-plugin notifications now appear as expected, and a dismissed notification stays dismissed.
2.13.1 14 fixed
Fixed
  • The All Feeds page opens again on sites with a lot of content. Working out where each feed was used meant searching every post on the site, twice per feed, so on large sites the page could sit loading for around ten minutes. It now does that work once and remembers it.
  • Feeds added with the Reviews block, the older feed block, a synced pattern, a template part or the Elementor widget are now counted under "Instances". Before this, only feeds added with a shortcode were, so a feed that was live on your site could be listed as used in 0 places right next to the delete button.
  • Instance counts are accurate where feed IDs share the first digits. Feed 12 was also counting pages that used feed 127. Some counts will go down after updating, and the lower number is the right one.
  • Adding or removing a feed from a page shows up straight away instead of waiting for a cached result to expire.
  • When we cannot finish checking where a feed is used, the Instances column now says so instead of showing zero, and the delete confirmation no longer claims the feed is unused.
  • The Trust Badges page opens again on sites with a lot of content. Counting where each badge was used meant searching every post on the site, once per badge. It now does that once and remembers it. A badge used on a page whose title starts late in the alphabet is also counted properly now, where before it could show as used in 0 places.
  • When we cannot finish checking where a trust badge is used, the Instances column now says so instead of showing zero, and the delete confirmation tells you we could not check rather than implying the badge is unused.
  • Pasting a TripAdvisor tour or experience link now tells you straight away that TripAdvisor does not share reviews for those, and suggests using a hotel, restaurant or attraction link instead. Before, the box simply sat there with no answer.
  • Double-clicking the Finish button when adding a source no longer saves it more than once.
  • The onboarding tooltip that points at the block inserter works again on WordPress 6.9 and 7.0, where the editor moved into a frame and the tooltip lost track of the button.
  • Review dates read "1 year ago" instead of "1 years ago".
  • The Collections page lists all of your collections and gives you page controls to move through them. Before, it showed only some of them — however many happened to come first — with no next page and no way to reach the rest.
  • The Collections, About us and Support pages line up with the plugin's other pages again instead of sitting slightly to the right.
  • Deactivating Reviews Feed no longer clashes with the feedback form of another Smash Balloon plugin active on the same site, which could show the wrong form or make the request fail.
2.13.0 1 new2 improved3 fixed
New
  • Reviews Feed now shares your overall rating, your connected review sources, each feed's stats and your latest reviews with the Feed Analytics dashboard, so its Reviews report is fully populated instead of asking you to update this plugin. Nothing is shared unless Feed Analytics asks for it.
Improved
  • Translations refreshed. The translation template had not been rebuilt in several releases, so hundreds of newer strings, including the whole Trust Badges screen, could not be translated. They can now, and translations that already existed for them are back in use.
  • The PRO and PRO+ labels in the admin menu can now be translated.
Fixed
  • WordPress.org reviews show the WordPress.org logo again. The feed was asking for an icon file under a name that never existed, so the mark came up blank and every WordPress.org review quietly loaded a full 404 page behind the scenes.
  • Review dates no longer show as a large negative number of "seconds ago" when a source stores the review time as text.
  • Typos and grammar corrected in a number of settings and help strings.
2.12.0 3 new2 improved5 fixed
New
  • Trust Badges. Build a badge once — pick the platforms it speaks for, the shape, the colours, what it shows — then place it wherever you want it. There are four ways to place one: a shortcode, a block, a widget in any sidebar, and an image you can paste into an email signature. Change the badge later and every copy of it changes with it.
  • A badge can report several platforms at once. Pick three sources and it gives you one rating across all of them, weighted by how many reviews each platform actually has, so a shop with four thousand reviews does not count the same as one with twenty.
  • Booking.com badges keep the nought-to-ten score the platform actually uses, without stars, instead of being squeezed into five.
Improved
  • A badge with nothing to report now shows nothing at all, rather than a box with a dash in it. While you are building one, the editor draws a placeholder so you can see the shape and lay it out; that placeholder never reaches your site.
  • Badge styles now reach the Elementor editor preview, so a badge looks the same while you are building the page as it does once the page is published.
Fixed
  • Plugin security hardening.
  • Creating or previewing a feed no longer breaks the page. If a single cached review had been saved in a damaged form, the whole feed stopped loading — on some sites as a critical error screen. That one review is now skipped and the rest of the feed shows as usual.
  • Duplicating or importing a review collection no longer fails for the same reason. One damaged review used to stop the entire copy; it is now skipped and every other review comes across. And a file that is not a collection export now tells you so instead of failing quietly.
  • On the free plugin, the feed editor no longer shows "Average Review Rating" as switched on. The free header has never drawn a rating, so the setting looked active and did nothing. Existing feeds look exactly as they did.
  • On the free plugin, the search-engine markup no longer reports an overall rating. The free feed header does not show one, and markup has to match what a visitor can actually see. Individual reviews and their star ratings are untouched, so feeds still qualify for review snippets on every plan.
2.11.0 2 new2 improved5 fixed
New
  • TripAdvisor is retiring the API that older keys belong to on August 31, 2026. If you added your own TripAdvisor key, the plugin now tells you before that date and gives you two ways out: remove the key and let the connection built into the plugin take over, or replace it with a key from TripAdvisor's new Terra platform. Sites that never added a key need to do nothing.
  • Usage tracking now covers your feed settings, session activity and plugin events, so we can spot conflicts and see which features actually get used. The toggle under Settings → Advanced controls it and has always shown it on for Pro. Switching it off stops the weekly report and deletes what was collected on your site. It never sends access tokens, email addresses or anything about your users.
Improved
  • The TripAdvisor API key screens now say what a key is actually for. Your feeds work without one and refresh weekly; adding your own lifts that to every 12 hours. The "how to create a key" link also points at the platform that still issues them.
  • Tested and supported on WordPress 7.1.
Fixed
  • TripAdvisor feeds no longer stop refreshing while we look up your reviews. The plugin was giving up after 5 seconds, which was not always long enough.
  • Review Alert popups can now be closed on a phone. The close button only appeared when a mouse hovered over the popup, so visitors on a touch screen had no way to dismiss it. It is now visible on touch, and tapping it closes the popup instead of opening the review.
  • A wrong API key now says so. Adding a source with a key the provider rejects showed nothing at all and quietly kept the key, so the source never appeared and there was no clue why. You now get the provider's own message, and the key is marked invalid instead of saved.
  • Adding a source now tells you what is wrong instead of doing nothing. Clicking Finish with the box empty looked like a dead button, and some providers gave no message at all when what you typed was not accepted. Trustpilot in particular needs the address of the review page, not just the company domain, and the dialog now says so and shows an example.
  • Duplicating a feed keeps its styling instead of rendering with none.
2.10.0 1 new6 improved1 fixed
New
  • Rich snippets. Your reviews can now appear as star ratings in Google search results — the plugin outputs schema.org markup (review, rating, and product/business) for your feeds. Works with or without an SEO plugin; when All in One SEO is active, the markup merges into its schema instead of adding a second block. On by default, with a toggle under Settings → Advanced. Available on all plans.
Improved
  • Booking.com reviews now show each guest's own score and wording on their review, so you can see how individual guests rated their stay. Your property's overall score keeps its place in the feed header.
  • Booking scores in the Review Alert editor now match what your visitors see on your site.
  • Reviewer photos are handled more efficiently. If a stored copy of a photo isn't available, the feed falls back to the reviewer's original photo right away, and stored copies are rebuilt on the next refresh — which also keeps your feed lighter on your server.
  • Reviewer photos in Review Alert popups stay visible as the popup cycles through your reviews.
  • Reviewer photos on Google feeds are round on your site, matching the feed editor.
  • "Read more" reliably expands long reviews.
Fixed
  • Plugin security hardening.
2.9.0 1 new2 improved
New
  • AliExpress reviews. Add an AliExpress product as a source and show its buyer reviews on your site — including the buyer's country, the product options they bought (like color and size), any follow-up review, and the photos buyers share. Works in both feeds and Review Alert popups. Available on Plus.
Improved
  • Accessibility. Feeds now work properly with keyboards and screen readers — list and heading structure, described source icons, a real "Read more" button, announcements after "Load More", and visible focus outlines.
  • The review photo viewer is keyboard accessible — focus stays inside while it's open, Escape closes it, and the previous, next and close controls are named and reachable by Tab.
2.8.0 1 new1 improved1 fixed
New
  • Airbnb reviews. Add your Airbnb listing as a source and show its guest reviews on your site — including the host's reply to a guest (on reviews the host answered) and the listing location. Works in both feeds and Review Alert popups. Available on Elite.
Improved
  • Review Alert popups now show the Airbnb host reply in the same clean, readable style as the feed, across the Light, Dark, Minimal and Minimal Dark themes.
Fixed
  • You can now add a TripAdvisor source without entering an API key. The API key step now has a Skip option — adding your own key is still optional — matching how TripAdvisor feeds already work behind the scenes.
2.7.0 1 new2 improved
New
  • Booking.com reviews. Add your Booking.com property as a source and show its guest reviews on your site — with Booking's own score and wording (like "8.9 Fabulous"), the pros and cons guests mention, and their review titles.
Improved
  • Booking feeds now pull more of your review history in the background, so more of your reviews show over time.
  • Review Alert popups got a cleaner, easier-to-read polish across the Light, Dark, Minimal and Minimal Dark themes.
2.6.8 2 improved1 fixed
Improved
  • On multilingual sites using WPML, your Google reviews now show up fully translated in every language you offer — not just the first few. Whichever language a visitor is browsing in, they'll see all of your reviews in that language, including when they click "Load More".
  • Google and Yelp feeds now pick up new reviews on their own, even when several come in at once — so your feed always shows your latest reviews, no manual refresh needed.
Fixed
  • WordPress.org reviews now display their source icon correctly.
2.6.7 1 improved4 fixed
Improved
  • Tested and confirmed compatible with WordPress 7.0.
Fixed
  • Review Alerts now show your business's real overall rating and total review count — matching your feed — instead of only the handful of recently cached reviews.
  • Review Alert star ratings now display half stars correctly (for example, 4.5), the same way they appear in your feed, in both the editor preview and on your live site.
  • You can now show Review Alerts on landing pages and other custom post types, not just standard pages.
  • Google reviews now translate correctly on WPML sites that use a regional language (for example Spanish — Mexico). The plugin maps the WPML language to a code Google supports (such as es-419 for Latin American Spanish), and adds a filter, sbr_google_api_language, for overriding the language code sent to Google.
2.6.5 8 fixed
Fixed
  • Feeds that combine more than one source now show the correct total review count and a properly weighted average rating — on your published pages, not just in the Feed Builder preview.
  • Resolved a rare PHP error that could stop a feed from displaying.
  • Reviews feeds load faster on Elementor sites — the plugin no longer runs extra background database lookups on every page, which could slow down sites with a lot of feeds.
  • Fixed feeds dropping to only a few reviews after moving a site to a new domain — the plugin now reconnects to your existing account on the new address instead of getting stuck.
  • Removing a review source now works properly — deleting one could previously error out, or leave you unable to add a new source even when none was showing in your list.
  • Clicking Clear All Caches now refreshes your reviews right away, instead of sometimes leaving a feed empty until the next scheduled update.
  • Pro customers (including legacy All Access Bundle licenses) are no longer mistakenly shown a free-plan review limit — your full set of reviews loads as expected.
  • Additional plugin hardening.
2.6.4 2 fixed
Fixed
  • Improved loading performance for the block editor and Reviews Feed dashboard, keeping these screens fast and responsive on sites with large amounts of content.
  • Corrected a few misspelled labels in several translations.
2.6.3 1 new3 fixed
New
  • A modern Reviews Feed block for the WordPress block editor, plus a new Elementor widget — pick one of your feeds and drop it onto any page or post visually, no shortcode needed.
Fixed
  • Resolved a critical error on PHP 8 sites where an unexpected response from a review source could crash the page instead of being skipped over. Feeds now stay up and quietly ignore malformed review data.
  • Adding or refreshing Google and Yelp sources is more reliable — when the reviews service is slow to respond, the connection no longer hangs or leaves you with an empty feed.
  • Deactivating your license now works reliably, including cases where it previously kept showing a "License cannot be deactivated" error.
2.6.2 1 improved1 fixed
Improved
  • Refreshed the Easy Digital Downloads source icon to match EDD's current branding.
Fixed
  • Improved reliability on PHP 8 — when a review source can't be reached, the plugin now logs the issue quietly in the background instead of interrupting the feed builder.
2.6.1 1 new1 fixed
New
  • Help Widget with quick access to documentation and feature suggestions now available in the Reviews Feed. Easily find answers and share your ideas without leaving the plugin.
Fixed
  • EDD review titles now display above the review body on both the public feed and the customizer preview. Previously the title (filled in via the required "Review Title" field on the product-page review form) was forwarded to the feed but silently dropped by the renderer. Special characters in the title (apostrophes, ampersands, accented letters) render once, no double-encoding.
2.6.0 2 new3 improved
New
  • Easy Digital Downloads is now a first-class review source. Pick any of your EDD downloads, group several into a multi-product source, or build a feed straight from a category or tag — same wizard you already use for Google, Yelp, and the rest.
  • EDD source icons render in the same provider-icon row as your other sources, so customers can tell at a glance which review came from your store.
Improved
  • Cleaner small-icon notice graphics — admin notification thumbnails now keep their aspect ratio instead of being stretched into a square.
  • Notification icons load reliably across the admin area; the small "Reviews Feed" thumbnails that occasionally appeared as broken images now resolve to the correct file.
  • After a Pro downgrade or after deactivating the EDD Reviews extension, your existing feeds keep displaying the reviews they already collected — both on the frontend and in the admin preview. New EDD sources can no longer be created in that state (the picker tile correctly disables itself with a clear "extension required" message). If you need to remove or replace an EDD source after a downgrade...
2.5.5 2 improved4 fixed
Improved
  • Test Connection diagnostic clarity — distinguishes connectivity, network, and authentication states for clearer status reporting.
  • Update external links.
Fixed
  • Background cron update optimizations — feed processing batches more efficiently, reducing Google Places API requests on sites with multiple feeds.
  • Connection stability under transient server conditions such as cache events, brief deploys, and high-traffic parallel requests.
  • Site URL recognition across proxy formats (Cloudflare, AWS, Nginx), www variations, and trailing-dot domain forms for consistent connectivity behind any hosting setup.
  • License activation and deactivation reliability with automatic authentication token refresh on the first attempt.
2.5.4 2 fixed
Fixed
  • Resolved a registration loop on multilingual sites (WPML, Polylang) where WordPress's home URL emitted different language paths across requests.
  • Hardened the registration retry limiter so it correctly stops repeated requests even when the plugin successfully registers in a loop.
2.5.3 1 improved1 fixed
Improved
  • Added a safeguard that limits how often the plugin can retry registration when something goes wrong, so it never floods your site or our servers.
Fixed
  • Resolved a loop where sites that switched between http and https (for example after enabling SSL via their host) kept re-registering on every page load.
2.5.2 2 improved9 fixed
Improved
  • Hardened security on the email verification flow.
  • License deactivation errors now explain the real cause (e.g. license key mismatch).
Fixed

  • When your site URL changes, the plugin re-registers your license on the new URL automatically.
  • Google reviews from authors with non-Latin names (Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Cyrillic, etc.) no longer disappear.
  • Source address now shows under the business name for Google, Yelp, TripAdvisor, and Facebook.
  • Total ratings no longer dips during a provider outage — falls back to last good count.
  • Plugin self-heals on next admin load if settings get corrupted by a backup/migration tool.
  • Email verification no longer loops when the email was already verified.
